Hello,
I know about the 50% power trick. I have also noticed that when you turn the light on full and dim backwards- its seems to go into 50% mode. When the light is moved rapidly there are dots instead of a streak. Anyone know about this?

Thanks,
Todd

What you are seeing is "pulse-width modulation", cycling the light on & off rapidly to accomplish the effect of dimming the light output. As I understand it, it's more efficient to run the LEDs at full power, using PWM to give the effect of reduced brightness, rather than just reducing power to the LED as you would dim a typical light bulb. The frequency of that on/off pulse is what controls the brightness you see. The 50% mode uses PWM in a similar way, but at 50% the eye cannot easily distinguish any difference in brightness yet.
