Hi guys,

I'm having problems with my Rav'n Photon light I got for Christmas. It has been working for a couple weeks now with no problem and then I then it stopped working. I took out the battery and I noticed that the little gold tab was pressed down and I followed the instructions on the troubleshooting guide with no success. Sometimes the LED just blinks red very dimly. And if I put the batteries in at a certain angle and hold, the LEDs light up and cycle normally. I am trying to figure out why but I'm not having success. Is there something wrong with the unit? I know the batteries aren't dead because it does work. I've got the tab up and above the top battery. I haven't dropped it or put any shock on the casing. What else can I do? Oh the LED's work with one battery pressed down but it's dimmer than with two batteries. I'm from Canada, so I hope I don't have to pay duty to get this fixed if I have to mail it. What's the turn around for international service? I really do love this light! It's amazing and everyone loves watching it do it's things! Please help!

BTW, isn't there a way to make one light do the ribbon or the strobe with the computer? My Photon 3 can do the ribbon (of just white light) with full brightness and strobe when it's at medium or low. Thanks!!!! Happy New Year!!! :)

The best solution is to just send it in for warranty service. Turn-around time on returns is usually only 1-2 days, so any delay really comes down to the delivery time to get here and back. I would figure about 1-2 weeks either direction if you just send it regular air mail. The customs label on the return should indicate that it is a warranty replacement, so you should not have to pay any duties on the replacement.

Hi Bryan

Great, I will do what you told me to do and start shipping today. I am still in a dilema whether I should keep the ribbon or get the strobe version. What are the strong points and weak points of both versions of the Rav'n? I guess I will email you if there is a change since I will not be able to include a letter in the package if I want to switch to the strobe version. Thanks a lot Bryan and your lights are fantastic. Everyone that I gave one to for Christmas says they don't know what they'd do without one now as they use the LED to light up many things throughout the dark hours. Smile Take care Bryan.

Oh no I'm having exactly the same problem on both my Rav'n lights after the last battery change! They've been working fine since Xmas (when i got them) but now when i attach the cover the light just blinks in a dim red colour...lifting the cover off and setting the battery at an angle sets it flashing right again as soon as I close them again it's Mr Red Light!
The battery connectors look fine, not sandwiched it between the batteries yet..any ideas whats causing this?!
Many thanks

Not sure, but please send it in and we will be happy to take a look at it. Instructions for returning your light for free warranty service may be found at the link below.

that means that the chip is off a bit, what i tried doing is just reach in and, with your finger nails, pull the chip up a bit, like 3 milimeters, enough so that when you take your hand out, its stays up... then try replacing the batterys and cap, and see if it works...

i reverse engineered many photons, you just need to understand how they work...

if that first solution dont work, try and make sure that the little extension on the top that holds the top battery in is still making good contact with the battery, ad if not, bend it so it does...

dont be afraid... to phuck with em... just show them whose boss, and if you really dont wanna do it, then email these guys and tell them, and maybe theyll replace them for you...

Many thanks!

Hmmm... don't think I've seen that one before. The best thing is to just send it in for free warranty service. Could be similar to a problem we've seen occasionally with the P3 where the light still glows dimly when it is turned off. Please send it in and we'll take a look at it.

Like i said before, it's more than likely the chip and the way its set in the body. what happened is there is a little tiny metal round buttin in there, and when its not pushed correctly, it wont activate correctly. Or in your case, you can push it correctly, but the when you try and turn it off... the body coninues to push the button.

It's hard for me to tell you how to fix these problems with out seeing them in person, and i don't know if these guys (bryan) would like you screwing with them, and sending them in after, so unless youre brave enough to get into it and screw with it, just send it in and they can fix it.
