The clip can be VERY stiff at first sometimes, making it difficult to know if you're on the right track. If you look at the little filler clip that came with the Proton and imagine the portion of the belt clip that attaches to the Proton looking the same way, that might help you visualize how it attaches. Basically, you need to pull the clip straight outward, away from the body of the light. Hold the clip firmly as close to where it attaches to the Proton as possible when pulling. If yours is really tough, it may help to insert some sort of object between the belt clip and the body of the proton to help with the leverage. Just be sure that the pressure is pulling the part that clips into the Proton directly outwards to avoid making it any tougher to remove than it already is. Once the clip has been removed for the first time, it should be much easier to remove by hand after that.
