Strobe or Ribbon for Swinging

I'm a little confused on the aspects of the strobe and ribbon rav'n light. The strobe has a "brief pause" between color switches, and the ribbon transitions between colors. My question is: How long does each individual color stay on before switching on a strobe light, and how long before transitioning on a ribbon light? because, when you swing, the lights move pretty fast, and it'd look sorta weird if the colors were changing fast : . NEwayz, what would be better for swinging? thanx!
