I'm about to lay down the Visa for some lights, I haven't ordered any in a couple weeks... I am REALLY REALLY considering buying two RAV'N's for this Friday... are they worth the cash? I read that they weren't "momentary" pushbutton like the Photon 1's and 2's so you can't really do the same kind of tricks... are they only good for liquid dancing and swinging? The pictures that I have seen of the Ribbon appear to be the best. Has anyone taken these to the club, I really want to bust out something original this week...
thanks

You should go with the ribbon it looks alot nicer, the strobe look like those small glowsticks when you spin it. the stobe dose look coool though it you attace another color other then red blue or green. Orange, yellow, or white looks cool, with the strobe, but youg et more use with liquid if you get the ribbon.

I now have 4 Rav'n lights (Ribbon). I keep 2 Rav'n lights on 3" strings w/ a crystal, and I keep the other two w/o crystals on a 2 different keychains w/ my photon IIs. You will draw tons of attention, because not only do they look awsome, but many people haven't seen them yet...I recommend that you get them.

yes, they friggin' rock! I've had a fetish for blinky club-gear for years, and these puppies made me cream my flares. The switch is a click on-click off, so they aren't something you're going to control for body juggling, but they rock for fluid, just please do everyone a favor and keep them on a _short_ tether if you're going to be swinging them. I'm as much a PLUR-bunny as the next kid, but I'll get nasty in a hurry if you start swinging them on a crowded dance floor and catch me around the neck (it's happened, he got a broken finger for his stupid move... quick tip, nitrous and 4' strings don't mix.)
The visual effect is just as it appears on the web-page, it draws a crowd like nothing else, it's magical in a dark room. grab a pair and keep 'em tight, 'cause everyone will want to try them!

yeah, they're great for strings and liquid, but hard to incorporate into other tricks that use instant presses. however, they're still pretty damn awesome and i'm sure you'll find some way to incorporate them into whatever you do. so yeah, get em, good stuff. (i own 2 ribbons)

I have both the Strobe and the Ribbon and everytime I dance with them, I get a crowd around me. Afterwards, people are coming up asking where did I get them. They pretty much balk at the price after they ask, but it's definitely worth having the Rav'N lights!

You should listen to what everyone's said above. If you just want a new toy to dance with, go for it! Get ribbon ones cause they're a bit brighter (tho I like the strobe better cause it's different). If you want to do tricks, you'll find that RAv'ns are *really* hard to incorporate, the presson-pressoff switch is really hard to get used to after you've been doing tricks with P2s for months. And they're next to impossible in gloves, the switch isn't responsive enough (no, I don't have the first gen messed-up switch ones!). They are good to swing around, but like all photons, they're too light (no pun intended, I mean weight-light) for good poi.
I say go for it though, cause everyone will be impressed. You've seen how people are impressed with Photon IIs? RA'vns will blow them away!! =)

Awesome! Thank you for the responses, I placed an order yesterday for 2 Ribbons, 2 Turqouise & 2 Whites! I FedEx'd 'em to be here this afternoon, I'm sure Brian got them shipped out yesterday (as he is damn good with the customer service department). I hope that they are a hit, I'm going to bust 'em all out tonight at the club if all goes well & I can make it down there. I SHALL post video tonight or tomorrow of the RAV'N in action for all of you who haven't seen 'em yet. I'm sure Photon Light will appreciate this, as many of us are dishing out serious cash for these things and we haven't even really seen them yet!
I hope to attract a crowd, I have personally NEVER seen the lights. It's going to be so hard not to want to keep 'em a secret, we'll see what happens!

I got my RAV'N's yesterday and managed to take a couple snap shots (head to below link)
oh, and if you try to spin'm in the middle of the string, with a shoelace or w/e, it looks white (mebbe cuz RGB make White ^_^). oh well, they are tyte, 'cept they aren't as sturdy as photon II's ...
i dropped one today on my hardwood kitchen floor by accident and now it has a loose connection, thing keeps turning on and off at bad times... like in my pocket.

Try opening the battery compartment and (gently) lifting up the rear of the circuit board slightly. It should bend from the LED leads. The increased tension against the batteries should insure a good electrical contact and prevent the light from turning off & on by itself. Let me know if you are still having trouble.

they are by far my most favorite lights ever. unfortunately i lost mine somewhere and i can't live without them. especially at raves. check this video of me out with them. they are capable of awesomeness. they have a button on them that when u push they turn and stay on til u push it again. or u can lightly touch it and it'll blink. they are just like photons only the colors are way better.
